WHAT A JETTER DOES THAT A CABLE CANNOT
A cable is very good at opening a path through a blockage and getting flow back quickly. For a great many stoppages that is exactly the right tool. Jetting is different. The water works the full circumference of the pipe, and carries the loosened material downstream instead of leaving a coating behind.
The practical difference shows up in how long the line stays clear. A wall that is still coated starts collecting again immediately after a cable clears the opening. That is why some lines keep backing up on a short cycle, even after repeated cabling.

WHY WE LOOK INSIDE THE LINE BEFORE THE HOSE GOES IN
Putting high pressure water into a line we have not seen is a guess, and the wrong guess is expensive. A sewer camera inspection is run on every job, once the line is clear enough to see and before jetting begins.
The camera travels through the line and shows us the pipe material. It shows the condition of the wall and joints, whether there is a structural defect, and exactly where the trouble sits. That information also tells us whether jetting is appropriate at all for this particular line.
The inspection is recorded. That recording gives an honest before and after comparison, so the customer is not taking our word for the result. You see what the pipe looked like going in and what it looks like after the cleaning is done.
If the camera shows us a pipe that cannot safely take high pressure water, we say so before the hose goes in. The inspection is not optional, and it is not a formality.

Water Softener installation Completed! Just wanted to give a shout out to Kurt and Lane on their outstanding customer service today. I hired 4L Contracting LLC to install a water softener in our home. After finding out the water softener I had purchased was missing parts, the job was rescheduled for Monday. The authorized work covers the cleaning described in the written scope. Additional access work, concealed conditions, structural defects, or repairs found along the way are discussed and approved separately before any additional work begins.
Cleaning a line and repairing a line are two different jobs. A clean pipe with a defect in it is still a pipe with a defect in it. If the camera shows a structural problem after cleaning, we explain it and give you a written price for the repair. We wait for your approval before doing anything else.

GREASE LINES, RESTAURANTS AND COMMERCIAL KITCHENS
Grease does not sit in a line as a plug. It coats and hardens on the wall. That is why a cable can restore flow through it, and the line still closes back down soon after. Jetting is the method that takes that coating off the wall rather than just opening a channel through it. ROOTS, BUILDUP AND LINES THAT KEEP COMING BACK
Roots find their way into a line through joints and cracks. Once inside, they catch everything that passes through, and the line builds up from the inside out. Jetting with a root-cutting nozzle clears the intrusion and flushes the debris downstream, which restores the line to working flow.
It is honest to add that jetting removes what is inside the pipe. It does not close the opening the roots came through. That joint or crack is still there after the cleaning, which means roots can begin working back in over time.
A line that needs the same treatment at shortening intervals is telling you something structural. The next step in that case is inspection and a repair conversation rather than more cleaning. WHEN JETTING IS NOT SAFE ON OLD OR DAMAGED PIPE
Pressure that cleans a sound line can do real damage to one that is deteriorated, collapsed, badly offset, or thin-walled. Older pipe materials in particular have to be assessed before anyone commits to high pressure cleaning. That assessment is what the camera inspection provides.
If we find a line in that condition, we say so and we do not jet it. Turning a blocked line into a broken one helps nobody, and it creates a larger and more expensive problem than the original stoppage.
We would rather lose the job than cause a problem we then have to quote a repair for. That is also the reason the camera inspection is not optional. It is the only way to make a sound decision about whether the pipe can take it.

Locate access and set up
The plumber locates a suitable access point, sets up the water supply and equipment, and protects the work area before any cleaning begins.
Inspect the line
A camera inspection is run through the line once it is clear enough to see. It confirms the pipe condition, identifies where the problem sits, and verifies that jetting is appropriate for this pipe.
Clean in stages
The line is cleaned in stages along its length, working the full circumference of the pipe wall and carrying loosened material downstream.
Inspect the result
The camera goes back through after cleaning so the result can be seen rather than assumed. You see the before and after.
Review findings and clean up
